Visiting Artist: David Humphrey
About
Lighthouse Works is pleased to welcome David Humphrey to Fishers Island for the weekend of September 22, 2018 as part of our Visiting Artist Program.
In addition to conducting critical studio visits with our fellows, David will be presenting his work at an Artist Talk which is open to the public on Saturday, September 22 at 10am. The talk will take place at Lighthouse Works which is located just west of Silver Eel Cove, where our ferry makes port, and north of the intersection of Hound Lane and Greenwood Road.
David Humphrey is a New York artist who has shown nationally and internationally. He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rome Prize among other awards. An anthology of his art writing, Blind Handshake, was published by Periscope Publishing in 2010. He teaches in the MFA program at Columbia University and is represented by the Fredericks & Freiser Gallery, NY.
Our Visiting Artist Program invites nationally recognized artists to Fishers Island to engage in a critical dialogue with our fellows and to present their work to our community. An invaluable resource to our fellows and community alike, the Visiting Artist Program seeks to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art and writing.
