The Knights in Concert w/ Osvaldo Golijov

About

Acclaimed Brooklyn-based ensemble The Knights return to Fishers Island with a dynamic new program that spans centuries, genres, and geographies. This year’s performance features works by violinist and composer Colin Jacobsen, celebrated Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov, and a landmark chamber work by Felix Mendelssohn.

The program opens with Colin Jacobsen’s Beloved, Do Not Let Me Be Discouraged, a lyrical and searching work that blends personal expression with global musical influences. Golijov’s Ever Yours follows—an emotionally resonant piece drawn from a series of musical love letters, composed with the composer’s signature blend of passion, complexity, and cultural hybridity. The evening concludes with Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat Major, written when the composer was just sixteen and widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in chamber music.

The ensemble for this performance features nine Knights musicians—four violins, two violas, two cellos, and one bass—joined by composer Osvaldo Golijov.

In addition to the evening concert, The Knights will once again offer a Family Concert, an interactive musical experience designed to introduce audiences of all ages to classical instruments, musical storytelling, and the joy of ensemble performance in an inclusive and welcoming setting.
